Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. has announced that it is voluntarily recalling close to a total of 400,000 vehicles in two recalls due to possible safety issues.
One of the recalls is for about 102,000 Lexus IS 350, IS 350C, and GS 350 cars from the model years 2006 to 2011. The carmaker says the recall is needed since the bolts that secure the vehicles’ variable valve timing control devices may loosen, which can cause the cars to stop without warning as they are being operated.
The other recall is around 133,000 Highlander Hybrids from the model years from 2006 to 2010 and Lexus RX 400h’s from the model years 2006 to 2008. This recall is being called so that the vehicles’ inverter assembly transistors can be replaced due to the threat that they may be damaged by heat, which can cause the cars’ instrument panel lights to light up.
Toyota and Lexus will be fixing the vehicles free of charge.
